Where will the interview be done?

Ideally at your home. All we need is a decent-sized, quiet space.

How long will it take?

With every package, we will spend a couple of hours with you prior to the interview as part of the research process. If you select the Storylines Package, you will need to set aside half a day for the actual filming. We will take about 45 minutes to set up the lighting and interview space and then the interview itself will last for up to two hours (with a break in the middle, if needed). If you select the Storylines Premium package, we will give you an individual estimate on time. depending on what filming is required.

Is my story compelling enough?

Yes. Your story matters because it’s part of your family’s history. Everybody has a story to tell and you’re likely to have insights and memories that nobody in the family has heard before.

What if I’m asked questions I don’t want to answer?

This is your film and you can be as selective as you like.  There’s no pressure to discuss anything you don't want to.

What if I say something and then realise I don’t want it in the film?

You can determine what will be in the film. We will use our many years of film-making experience to guide you but you will have the final say.

Do I need to prepare?

You should take some time to think about what you would like to say, but you don’t need to do any kind of extensive preparation. We ask you not to memorise answers because we want the interview to be as natural as possible. You’ll be given an opportunity at the end of the interview to add anything you like if you feel something hasn’t been adequately covered.

I feel nervous about appearing on camera.

Everybody feels a little nervous on camera – especially if it’s something they haven’t done before. But with the experience of our people, in a very short time you will forget the camera is even there.

What should I wear?

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Smart/casual always looks nice and jackets give a more sophisticated look. We recommend block colours and avoiding stripes because they can create a strobe-like effect on camera. We are happy to talk you through all of this in detail.

Do I need makeup?

Professional makeup can make an enormous difference to your appearance on camera. We can provide a makeup artist for a small additional fee. Alternatively, the Storylines team can provide basic makeup free of charge.

How will you give me the final product?

We will provide you with 5 DVDs. We are happy to provide further copies for a small additional charge.

What if I want to add to it later?

For a small fee, we can keep a master copy of the edited interview that can be re-edited at a later date to include any additional material.

What format will the film be shot and delivered in?

The film will be shot in high-definition and given to you on a DVD.
